WHAT WE DO

MedXMentor runs annual mentorship cohorts that span eight months. During this period, students are matched with mentors and engage in both virtual and in-person sessions. These sessions cover essential areas such as grant writing, public speaking, career planning, CV development, and teamwork. Mentees also work on collaborative projects, including research proposals and community-based interventions.

Our mentorship model prioritizes structured communication, defined goals, and ongoing progress tracking to build trust and accountability. Mentors serve as advisors and role models, guiding mentees through academic and career challenges.
Additionally, MedXMentor trains campus ambassadors to lead local chapters, organize events, recruit students, and promote a culture of mentorship, ensuring accessibility and sustainability within the academic setting.

Mentee Stories

"Choosing a mentor and ensuring that you're in constant communication with them and how far with achievement of the set goals was something I'd never heard of in mentorship, going further to organize both physical and online webinars for the mentees showed how much they were determined to make this program a success and letting them down or failing to acknowledge their effort was something one would never forgive oneself for. The activities altogether supported a holistic life of a student."

Muhindo Juan

"In my first encounter with my mentor, she seemed strict, but it was not the case; she is a free person who has opened up my mind, taught me several other things, as well as believing in me that I can make it to a higher level. For the time she has mentored me, I have been able to come up with a project which I intend to launch to the entire MUST fraternity. I thank God that I am part of MedXMentor, and I don’t regret joining it because it has offered me all the soft skills, branding and financial discipline."

Baja Uthman

"I also like how the team managed to engage all the mentees, receive feedback, follow up, and ensured that the activities were scheduled at times convenient for us. Although I didn’t fully benefit from the mentee-mentor relationship due to some challenges, I still managed to benefit and better myself through the different webinars, workshops and online resources shared alone.

In conclusion, I’d recommend the program any day, anytime to all students. It’s a must-do"

Nampijja Mariam Pretty

"I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to share with/ meet with my mentor, sharing resources about different aspects helped me look forward to diversifying myself and building myself to be resourceful. One shouldn’t miss out mentorship, as it opens one to immense opportunities, they wouldn’t have been able to get alone; connections, experiences, having an accountability partner to guide and remind, to motivate and incite thought are all priceless. Having been part of the program, I'm thankful to the whole team that made it possible for us to access all these resources at no cost, and for having been with us on this journey."

Amanda Gabwe Florence

"The physical workshop sessions also deserve a mention. What a time to learn!  Moments with big brains like Dr. Ngozi, Dr. Migisha cannot be taken for granted. Writing and winning grants and the soft skills workshop sessions particularly stood out. Perhaps we learnt that there is a lot more beyond grades and CGPA for one to compete and succeed in life. We needed to think like researchers, to be innovators, to be creative, to take risks, to be flexible, to seek mentorship from ‘those who know’. Moments with Dr. Kasaire, my mentor, stood out. To him, one needs to have a clear life future model with a vision and mission along with SMART objectives to attain the heights."

Imongit Emmanuel

"I encourage all those who have not been part of this first cohort to join in on the next because this is an opportunity for them to interact and learn from the personal experiences of ladies and gentlemen who have accomplished a lot in their various fields. In conclusion, I'm grateful to the pioneers of the MedXMentor program for this amazing initiative and I believe everyone in this first cohort has picked up a thing or two that will positively impact their lives."

Katuutu Eugenia

"Though personal branding is a lifelong process, my team and I have been able to set the ball rolling for most of the mentees who were able to attend our webinars and physical sessions and participate in our activities. The attitude I have towards mentorship has changed throughout the mentorship program because I have been able to enjoy some of the benefits of mentorship. Above all, the mentorship program delivered to us more than mentorship; we had different webinars and different workshops that helped us build different skills, such as soft skills in the medical field."
